About Us

Covenant Presbyterian Church's primary purpose is the preaching of the Whole Counsel of God, ordering of church government and dispensing of the Holy Ordinances of Baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe and teach that the Church of Jesus Christ has the responsibility to disciple the nations, teaching them all things commanded by our Lord Jesus Christ, i.e., the Whole Counsel of God. We believe that the Church of Jesus Christ, corporately and individually, is responsible for bringing every thought captive unto Jesus Christ. The extensive implications of this culminate in a total Biblical worldview which seeks to place Christ's Kingdom as paramount in all of life as we know it. This Biblical mission is based on the inspired, infallible, inerrant and authoritative Word of God, which is the final authority on issues of life, faith and practice. It is the duty of the church to preserve the Gospel of Christ by seeking to maintain its purity according the the Word of God (the Bible). Therefore, our motto is: "Preaching Biblical Truths, Where Jesus Christ is Lord and King."

There are many churches that profess that the Bible is the inspired, infallible and inerrant Word of God; however, they disagree on what it teaches. Covenant Presbyterian Church holds to the Westminster Confession of Faith of 1647 and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms as our standard and the systematic theological foundation of what the Word of God teaches. Therefore, we are a church of the traditional Reformed faith.

A church of the Reformed faith is a church that holds to the doctrines taught in the entire Bible, the Word of God. Many of the leaders of the Reformation, such as John Calvin, John Knox and Jonathan Edwards, taught that the Scriptures alone were the determiner of truth. These men, as well as many others, were in agreement on several important points that are ascribed to the Reformation. For example, it is through Scripture alone that we can know God and what He requires of us. Saving faith is given to us by God so that we are able to believe. God's Grace alone is our only hope of salvation because we are unable to approach God on our own. Christ alone is the focal point of Scripture and His work on the Cross is our only hope for salvation and to bring us back into right fellowship with God the Father. On these points, as well as others, we are a church in the tradition of the Reformers.

We are a family-oriented church. There are many churches that split up the families for worship. Children go to a different place during worship or to a pre-school nursery environment. We do not place an emphasis on dividing our families in our church. Although many churches are program-oriented, we are not. We do not define the value of our church by the number of programs that we offer. We focus on family unity and spiritual growth in a covenantal approach. There are opportunities for families to fellowship in our church. We have monthly “koinonea” {Greek word for loving fellowship} where we eat together and share our lives with each other. We continuously work to try to provide ministry opportunities that families can participate in together. We strongly emphasize home schooling, Christian schools and daily family Bible study. Churches should always emphasize family because the family is the basic foundation of any society, not the church.
